Is your car ex-police?
does it do anything when pressed?
-
unusual vehicle being a manual elite.....
press it and see.....
-
Did you have LPG fitted before in the car?
-
few guesses...
something left over from police days, if appropriate.
a permanent live switch for a 2nd fag lighter which used to live in that compartment.
an extra immobilsier, controlling fuel pump or something similar.
extra lights
what do you know of the car's history?
-
I would agree with JimBob on his suggestions.
Probably looks like an extra immobiliser hidden switch
-
I heard somewhere that the plod used to fit a switch to disable the interior light for covert disembarkation from the car. Might be that perhaps?

Its got a full vauxhall history from new, two owners an elderly gent and a family, its never been a MOD car. There is a vdo sat nav fitted by vauxhall in 2003 this might have something to do with it?
I pressed it and it does nothing.
Strange. :-/
-
did you try and start it after it was pressed? i am thinking fuel cut off switch
-
my cavalier had a similar thing but in the glove box, found out it was a new immobiliser switch, i pressed it thinking it was the glove box light and couldnt get the car to start for a week, took it to 4 different garages before they found out what the switch was lol ::)
