With all the taxes, stealth taxes, criminals, immigrants, crime, red tape, trouble makers, hoodies, chavs, self serving mps, "safety cams" are you ready for the off?

Obviously I've done this the other way.  It's easier to tolerate this stuff as a guest, but no we don't plan to stay here indefinitely.  However, we're not planning on running back home either.

If I was from here, and had a house, I'd sell up and use the money somewhere else - especially if retiring.

Problem is "Grass is greener" is it worse elsewhere?

Time for a revolt!

The other option is to try and make this country what it used to be. We need the people in power m.p's, local govenment etc to get thier heads out of their ar*es and see what's going on around them at grass roots level. Also the p.c brigade need to see how destructive there ideology's are.

Me and my wife will be looking for somewhere in France in the next couple of years. Its close enough to home if theres any problems and I like the way the Frenck do things (if their not happy the whole country comes to a stand still). We intened to rent our house out rather than sell up just incase we have to return. I love this country but dont like the way its going so im off.

Yes, I think the only option is to stay and fight. What we need is a mass revolt. You won't get the people in power to change their minds by reasoning - they're only interested in their own jobs (at hyper-inflated salaries). We need to get them out and get people in power who care about this country and have more than the a milligram of common sense, plus we need to leave the EU, IMHO.

If someone calls a rally in London to demand changes, I would, for the first time ever I might add, join a public protest.  >:(

We obviously made the move. Some of the reasons are those listed above. I would say that for pensioners or people of independent means the move is a good idea. Better climate and less worry generally.

It isn't all as rosy as you might think. Using Spain, For example health care for non pensioners costs unless you get a job. If you get a job (and it is a big IF) then the pay and conditions are worse than the UK. Little job security unless you get a government job or a long term contract then it is the opposite - job for life.. Pay at  best 70% of UK levels. Living costs though are less - maybe 70% of UK levels. It used to be cheap here but not anymore.

Social security. Virtually non existent. Young unmarried mothers get looked after by their parents. No free houses, grants and dole each week for life.

Crime and drugs are just as big an issue, certainly in urbanisiations as in the UK. Immigration is possibly a bigger problem than UK.

Red tape is none existent in the UK compared with Spain where it is an art. Also the officials are actually corrupt and take back handers. The Spanish government has set aside 3.5Billion euros to help local councils demolish illegally constructed properties that received illegal planning permission by local councils. One belongs to Antonio Banderas!

This country is LOST due to suicidal politics.

Bring back border controls. I leave the country half a dozen times a year, I dont care if I get searched every time I come back.

Do not allow any person into the country that does not have the correct paperwork

Make all travellers are the responsibility of the carrier company if the documents are incorrect, therbuy incuring no costs on the ratepayer.

Charge all foriegn travellers the same to enter as they charge us to enter their country, (in Sterling to get our money back)

Seach all vehicles and impose the same delays on incoming goods as they put on our exports to their country

I was ready to leave 10 years ago, and would still like to go now.

Not that I'm bitter or anything ;)

People i know that we are all annoyed about the state of the country, and the Taxes that are put upon us,

but its the people in the UK that are the best in the world.

I have lived Abroad now for nearly 30 Years, and believe me its not easy, unless you do not have to work for a living. :exclamation

The UK is still the best country in the World, it has the Strongest Currency, Nearly the lowest Tax Rate (Income Tax) some of the cheapest cars, Great work oppertunities, a lovely countryside, amd Great Forums :y

Why not look at your position from my point of view, the Grass is Greener in the UK :y :y :y :y

This is a fantastic country, I served for it and i would never leave, i am british right through.

Look around the world and see all the trouble, i know our crime rate is on the increase, but hand on heart, you can do what you like, go where you like, live in peace.

I know several people who thought the grass was greener on the other side and have now decided to return to GREAT BRITIAN.

No matter what comments and digs come back to this post, you will NEVER change my thoughts on this.

I served for this country, I would do it again, ten fold, you can say the British flag flows through my veins.

As a few of you know we are just waiting for our house in spain to be finished and we are off!!!! two main reasons, one being the ridiculous cost of taxes here on everthing the other being quality of life, so we decided to go live in Spain at 3000mtres above sealevel, where the air is clear and the sun is nice and hot!! one of the Omegas is going with us the other will live here wih a mate ready for use when i come over to do a few weeks work !!
there is no incentive to live here now apart from the the people you know and love, and its ony a 2 hour plane journey away so thats easy,
I just cannot believe the damn politicians cannot see the unrest thats rife in this country, Towncentres no go areas after 8 at night, kids getting shot, drug use rife and the ordinary ctizen spied on with millions of cameras,   how many times does a certain P doherty get caught on camera openly snorting drugs and being let off?  then you get the law abiding citizen who gets done for doing 37mph in a 30 zone gets a large fine and points on his licence cos he is a easy nick? how many of you get burgled or your car stolen or vandalized and the police dont even bother coming round? no let the insurance company pay for it here is a crime number :o sorry guys rant over just had enough of it!!
