Is one available? Can any of the units from the GSI / VXR astra's / Vectras be used? I am a little shocked how small the std discs are (something like 286 or 296mm) for such a heavy car. Would have throught that something in excess of 310mm should be available and a 330m for 18 inch wheel. For reference, my last golf had 312mm brakes as std on the 2.3 V5 model and that was only 'adequate'.
Failing this I guess some uprated pads and / or discs - any suggestions?

Are you having problems stopping then? I've always thought the brakes are pretty good

No complaints here either :y
...and that's with my rear discs and pads needing a change.

Sounds like maybe you have pattern parts not genuine Vx, maybe had the same problem with the Golf...
I have a Golf V5 with standard brakes and an Omega again with standard brakes. The Golf brakes feel sharper but the miggy will haul itself up very quickly if necessary. Never felt the need to do anything with either car other than fit the genuine dealer brake parts.

No - deffo genuine parts on all cars I have ever had. Nothing wrong with them - they are operating as intended, I just think that they need much more bite.

Omega is designed to have progressive brakes, rather than the hairline trigger of, for example, Ford Focus.
The brakes are excellent for road use, for track use, I would use proper racing pads and possibly discs.
I work in Milton Keynes, which is a test for ANY braking system if you try to get across town promptly. It is possible to cook them in that time, but you have to try pretty hard.

Probably the progressive thing then - I am so much more used to doing the progressive thing myself with some more responsive brakes. Oh well.... just have to invest in some 'bitier' pads then.

ferodo DS2500 pads are brilliant! used them in my old VTi-S civic for a trackday and they were faultless and had her dancing on her nose coming into the hairpin lol!

hell of a difference between Civic and Omega, so they may or may not work well...

you can use all 5 stud discs from the vauxhall vectra/astra gsi/vxr models 330mm is the biggest i think you will need the calipers to match,or spaces to use the miggy ones. as for pads mintex 1144 fast road pads or ebc green range hope this helps
