I have changed the shocks and springs all round in the last 9 months.
The rears are reasonably firm (KYB Gas-a-Just), but the front (also KYB's but can't remember what exactly) are so soft, it's pitching and rolling like a boat, and I've now had enough.
Can't afford to spend silly money on front legs, so any suggestions as to what to go for on the front. Looking for reasonably firm or adjustables.
I know Koni used to make reasonably priced adjustable jobbies but I can't remember what they were called.

What exactly are they? B6, B8 ... Can't imagine that they would be anything other than one of the 'sport' units.
Won't go too far wrong with any Billies - how about an eibach spring to compliment? From a balance point of view would it not be best to keep the same manufacturers front and rear?
Koni FSD are supposed to be the dogs as well.

Just really dissappointed with the KYB's on the front. Too soft. The rears are spot on.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying the KYB's are un-safe or poor performance, just too soft for my likeing compared to the rears.
Most noticable on the 16 "A" road roundabouts on my daily commute.
I get an average of 42mpg, so I'm obviously not talking lead footed "boy racer" antics, but the roads on my daily commute are quite "fast flowing" as the roundabouts give clear vision of anything that should be given way to with plenty of warning as drivers approach, so speed isn't reduced that much compared to usual roundabouts. I find the car just pitches and rolls too much.
When I fitted the new front legs I thought the springs looked a bit "light guage" for a car of this weight. I've double checked and they are the correct ones.
What effect would I get if I just got up-rated springs, would the damping be insufficient if the shocks were left as they are ?

Are you sure its the shocks, I would say that it sounds more like the springs as you say its pitching and rolling like a boat. they might be to soft. (was just a thought)

Yep, that's what I was thinking. May look at up-rated springs for the front as the rear is fine.
Any suggestions for springs. Not on a mega tight budget, but I don't want to pay top dollar for just a name.

You could risk a look at fleebay. I'm not sure of quality though. no doubt one of the gang could give more info on that. sorry I cant be of more assistence.

havent a baldy, they were in the car when i bought it and the fella told me thats what they were.
all i know is they work, REALLY well! best driving car ive had thus far

I have a 40mm lowered Elite http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv327/Turkpix/Fujipix035-1-1.jpg and yes, for a big old barge it handles really well. Gonna keep my CD as standard, but thanks for the info. May check with them for a pair of up-rated std ride height springs tho :y
