C'mon Broocie, there must've been an Avenger in there somewhere. I sat in the back of a few when i'd been a naughty poodle thinking "my Dad had a new one of these but his had inside rear door handles! ::)

Actually, that was my last car before I had a company car. My first company car was a 1982 Escort 1.3L.
My last was a 2002 Honda Accord 2.0L with the sequential gear box, heated leather seats, built in SatNav, Bose stereo. Lovely car but not a patch on the Omega. Honest. :y

Strangely, no. We never had the collective corporate bottle to challenge the already poor maintenance records of the likes of the Metro or Mk2 Escort or Astra with something like the Avenger....
Just as glad, mind you. Had an Avenger estate as a personal 'between cars' car and it was like a millstone round my neck. Had to take a chunky cash hit to get rid of the pile of crap and get something resembling a return on my money..... :(
-
I had a company car for about 18 months as a tax dodge, I was doing silly miles installing systems around the country for a few customers including a large multi site glass processor based in SLady bitshorpe - Scotland, Newcastle, Gloucester and other places.
So my company car was my own Carlton, they paid maintenance, insurance, tax MOT I paid petrol when not on work trips.
Was still mine on the V5, was companies on books

My mum had an estate sold for more than we paid, I suppose a fast drive down some twisty roads showing how well it went and how comfy it was helped

Y'know Martin, there was not the slightest hint of a worm on that hook and still you jumped like a loupin' salmon on part rations for a full year....... ;D ;D ;D
Cars for courses - Mine was a dog and no amount of caning or 'enthousiastic' driving could change what was a pile of dog poo into anything other than a pile of dog poo.... No doubt others thought differently, though..... 8-) As the saying goes - you cant get a shine on a turd.... :'(

A few years previous my mum had a 1.3 Mk2 Escort which kept conking out, and my dad about 30 yearss ago had a 2.5 Ford Zephyr Mk4 which was always blowing up its engine.

No doubt....
My great Grandad stood next to some red coloured open top wooden sportscar that a Spitfire pilot used to drive, but could never get rid of the woodworm.... Still no comparison to a modern day car now though, (unless you include the wood construction and mohair hood...) :y

erm Omega MV6 Estate?
Get a car allowance, so stictly speaking, whatever I own is my company car ;D
Before that has a 1.8 Astra Estate (built to my spec) which I liked.
You had to take a car to join the scheme, but you could have the cash allowance next time.
