Title: SAI Vacuum unit - Breather Hose GM Part No?
Post by: ScaniaV8 on 08 June 2009, 12:10:16
Can anyone please advise the GM PArt Number for the Breather pipe hose that is fitted on the left side of this control unit?. Itis quite along hose (circa 20 inches) which runs downwards and goes out under front nearside bumper and attaches to another unit below. Can you advise what the unit is below and its function?
Many thanks for any advice.

Sounds like the pipe down to the blower which is mounted under the bumper.

The blower forces air up this pipe, through the valve and a non-return valve into the exhaust manifolds.

TBH, I'd remove the whole system in the event of any problems. It only makes a marginal difference to emissions during a cold start and won't affect MOT emissions.

You will need to either leave the air valve in place, or replace it with a resistance to avoid the ECU generating a fault code. The rest of the system can be removed and the pipes into the manifolds blocked.

Anyone got a how to for doing this? I have fault code 46 which is SAI pump so if removing the whole system is easier than replacing parts then I will do that?  :y
