Title: Camber setup in Essex
Post by: shammster on 10 June 2009, 22:23:37

Anyone recommend a good place in Essex.
Will be changing the front wishbones once I have finished the head gaskets.

All the best jobs, all at once :)

Without doubt the best place is WIM , Chesham, Buckinghamshire

Well worth travelling to IMHO .. I went from North Wilts to them and would do so again

Agree with Entwood, I made the 180 mile round trip and wouldn't hesitate to do it again :y

You won't regret the journey, especially driving home afterwards - no tramlining, no wandering, I could have driven most of the way home without touching the steering wheel ::) :y

Few more corners on my route home  :) but does sound tempting.

Would people recommend I change the wishbones myself or just get the lot done by WIM.
I have the new parts already, should i be lazy or tight ?

Did mine myself before making the trip...mention OOF and you should get the Geo set up for £69 inc. vat :y

I'm no genius with spanners but I did the wishbones 2 weeks ago ...  not a technicaly difficult job .. but a bit of a pain on axle stands !!!

Having never done this before I had couple of problems that I now know how to get around ... but I'm hopeful I'll never do that job again. Took me the best part of 5 hours, but I would reckon 3 would be a more realistic time if you know what you are doing ...... I don't know how much WIM would charge.... I think Tunnie was going to have them do his ... he might be able to answer that one for you.

The story behind mine is here in all it's boring glory !!

Compared to the heads I am hoping the wishbones are an easy(ish) job.
Have read the thread, seems doable without to much swearing!

It's a piece of pi$$.
I did wishbones, droplinks, & front shocks in 4½ hours start to finish, although I reckon you can easily shave an hour off that time if you have an airgun.

I use Supertyres in Maldon. After they did the full geometry setup for me my front tyres did over 20,000 miles and wore nice and even. I went back to them for another set of tyres and got them to change my wishbones at the same time. Good bunch of blokes, one of them comented that they were "the only people in Essex who'll touch Omegas."
