Title: high frequent noise
Post by: Shagma on 11 June 2009, 19:37:16
Did anyone ever experince to have a high frequent noise in engine compartment?
I have just changed DIS pack, and after I started up engine again.. there it was.. It is not related to rpm.
The only clue I have is that the frequency of the noise is changed if I remove one of the many vacum hoses, and I belive that it is from the area around EGR/DIS pack. I checked all the obvious vacum spots but there could a lot of thing i did not think of. I also removed hose to EGR, and since the sound is still there it must me before EGR...

Possible vacuum leak .. spray lightly around with some carb cleaner while the engine is running .. if the engine note changes thay is where the leak is  ... the cleaner is being sucked in and burned. After fixing the leak wipe down with paper towel.

Result .... fixed vac leak and a nice clean engine  :)

Yeah, good idea:)
However, is it safe to mess with carb cleaner on rubber hoses also?

Tried your trick, heard a change in rpm when spraying EGR. Removed EGR, flushed with carb cleaner, cleaned gasket and reassembled. The sound was gone! thanks :)

Welcome .. glad to help  :)

It's an easy tip for finding vac leaks ... wish I could claim the credit for it .. but was shown to me years back ... :)
