My X30XE clutch relese bearing is on it's way out and makes loads of noise when the clutch pedal is pressed. I called my local dealer and he quoted £66 :o
What is the part no of this and where would you recommend I get one from?

I think I'd be looking for a new-to-me bearing. The release bearing is an integral part of the concentric slave cylinder that lives inside the bellhousing around the input shaft, nothing like your Scimitar's separate items.

I'm using the R25-R28 gearbox with the X30XE engine so all standard Omega MV6 stuff. The clutch release bearing is a separate part to the slave cylinder.

i got a full kit for £210 from clutch & gearbox in leeds.
found them on the web.
not bad price and was on the doorstep next morning :y
I'll recomend them :y
can't find the number tho :(

Nope, there seperate parts according to the dealers and ......
I've just looked at the bearing that came off my Astra & never even tried to split it. :y

just a word to the wise here, but a knackered DMF can sound as if the realease bearing is shagged!!!
sounds exactly the same!!! while you have it apart check the flywheel,

By DMF I assume you mean duel mass flywheel?? If so what goes wrong?
The noise I get sounds like say , loose wheel on a shopping trolly when spun fast and it vibrates. This happens every so often when I press the clutch pedel. It stops as soon as I release the pedel.

yep dual mass flywheel, just realised your the guy did the 999 challenge for ppc? in the scim?? nice!!! yep as you stated that the exact sysmptoms of a dmf going tits up, not saying it is but to check the flywheel one hand on starter ring other on sticky out bit of flywheel if you see what i mean,then try to push or pull the two together or against each other, damn hard to explain it!! the springs iit are damped by a special grease, when its worn you can hearthe two halves vibrating against each other which sounds like the thrust bearing of the old days going!1 flywheel is in two halfs which move around a certain amount relative to each other this movement takes the place of the old springs in the clutch centre plate, hence your centre plate is now just an on off switch basically, the flywheel halfs move around to take the snatch out of the transmission when pulling away and changing gear, this is supposed to give a better performance but in reality they just need changing as often as the clutch!!, for reference think a 2.0 red top clutch and flywheel bolts straight on, so you can get rid of the useless two piece dmflywheel !! think its the one but check it out first!!

Yep, that was me. It's rapid, thats for sure ;D
I'm guessing the DMF also cause a vibration if failed. There is no vibration as such, just losts of noise?

vibration usually occurs way after the noise first starts, don t get me wrong it may not be the dmf, but im guessing the clutch had a torrid time on the challenge? so it could be, :o if you have vibration when actually using the clutch then it almost very certainy is the dmf playing up as the get rather hot!!was just warning you that changing the thrust bearing may not cure it and you will wonder why!!

All advice is welcome cheers. My local stealers quoted £66 for a release bearing :o Is there a cheaper source, and how much will a DMF cost me? Do they come with a clutch kit?

Ok, to add the the expense, the stealers want £700 for a flywheel :o :o :o
Had a look on the Courtenay sport web site, they do a lightend one for £275 but I'll need the clutch kit to go with it at £195 so it's still costing me £470 :o Thats more than the car cost me!!!!
I'll take it all appart and hope that it is just the release bearing, if not I will be looking for alternatives or used ones.
Any one fancy selling me a X30XE flywheel :y

Cheers for the link a duel mass flywheel from them is £215 + VAT. Much cheeper than Vauxhalls £700. :y
Well, it's all appart and I've got my new clutch thrust / release bearing. Part No. 90465672. It cost £66 :o
With everything appart I also found that the needle bearing in the end of the crank shaft had broken up. This is the bearing that carrys the end of the gearbox input shaft into the crank shaft and therefore supports the clutch. I have a new one of thoes on order as well now, part No. to follow, cost £3.61.
I'm guessing (hoping) this was responsible for all the noise. There's no noticable lateral play from the flywheel. I can by hand rotate one part a little with out the other by about 1 degree (or about 4mm if you were to draw a line on the outer face). Is this correct?

# yep sounds about right for the flywheel, but if you can prise the two halves apart at all by hand then its not long for this world,
yours sounds ok tho as said but usual disclaimers apply!! im not there so cant diagnose over the web!! lol
