Title: Water getting into engine bay through seal
Post by: jampot1979 on 13 June 2009, 09:03:03
Hi, Following a recent problem with my spark plug wells filling up with water when it rained, I have traced the leak I think to around the bottom of the windscreen seal on the drivers side. The spongy insulation on drivers side gets soaked.

has anyone else got this problem?

Do you think a good line of waterproof sealant around the windscreen seal would be enough to stop it?

The windscreen seal is seated really tight against the screen on the passenger side. Drivers side looks slightly lifted.

As far as I am aware the seal is integrated to the windscreen, so replacement is not straightforward.

Silicon sealant is not guaranteed to fix it but then again worth trying first.

I have the same problem which is appears to be caused by the rubber trim, that clicks into place at the bottom of the windscreen, leaking.  Mine has no sign of sealant ever being there - it just clicks in and does not even fit close to the screen. So if someone does know how it should be correctly installed I would also be grateful.
