Title: Rumbling rear wheel bearing !!
Post by: Big_Roger on 19 June 2009, 00:35:08
Hi all,
I have decided that it is time to do something about the rumbling on my near side rear wheel bearing.
I have looked through the maintenance guide and FAQ, but no one seems to have had this problem.

Has anyone done this job ? and got any info or tips? Cost of replacement bearing?

Regards
Roger

the saloon ones are about 20 on tradeclub, estate nearer 40 sorry.

It can be not too bad, or it can be a bastard if the bearing is seized in.

On mine we had to remove trailing arm, apply lots of heat and liberal use of sledgehammer, but this has been one of the hardest ones.

Bought mine from autoparts/partco, about £18 IIRC. Can be bit of a job without proper tools, local garage refused to even try, but then they can hit it with a sledgehammer.
