Title: b**tard bolt
Post by: psl on 29 June 2009, 10:28:19
I've replaced my thermostat (all part of doing my oil cooler) and was trying to put the B Bolt back in when I droped it, recovered the bolt but not the waser/spacer. I've spoken to vauxhall and they say there isnt a washer, so should there be one or not and does any one have a part no if there should be?

dont remember a washer or spacer. But trusting my memory is not advised. Is it possible the bolt has been replaced with one that a bit too long and the washer is there to take up the slack? You may have to try it for length and see if it tightens up nicely. If not fit another washer. Means re fitting the bugger again though.

if it has been replaced with a longer one I want to replace it as there is no space to get it in and it is living up too its reputation, any one else remember weather there is a washer or have a part no.

I did exactly the same thing. AFAIK there should be a spacer. I ended up replacing with a shorter bolt without the spacer and it seems to have worked fine!  :y

just checked the book of lies and it shows and talks of a spacer, just goes to show what the stealers know.

I used washers to get mine right - I had to use a different bolt as the original was rounded and loctited

Why dont dealers know anything?!!? I mean, honestly, it doesnt matter what the inquiry, I have to sit them down and patiently talk them through the simplest of tasks!
