Title: Dealer Part Warenty!!
Post by: daz1420 on 03 July 2009, 20:10:49
I'm not happy  >:( 2months ago i bought a nice new egr to exhaust pipe from nidd vale vauxhall -all fitted correctly by me (20 years rtitb/city@guilds motor engineer)and it has broke at the flange at the exhaust end. So i removed it and took it back to see if they would replace it. OH NO they said ,first i would have to reorder the pipe£47+vat, then they would have to fit it (£40 an hour labour now i think!!).So I don't know, say £150 to have it done ,they would then send the broken pipe to vauxhall who would asses if it had not failed due to it been fitted incorrectly!! And then may be refund me my money back. Now is it just me or is this just unresonable! And can I do anything about it. All I want is the pipe replacing that's not too much to ask, is it  :'(

I had an ignition barrel lock that snapped off it was only ten months old , went and saw them they ordered a new one no problem just told me to bring the damaged one in when the new one arrived and swap it over no hassle what so ever .
It only had to be ordered because it was the key for  the car . I stand to be corrected but  most of it should be 12month  warranty , they did have the damaged one back to send away  :y

exactly - for a part to fail like that you claim it is not fit for purpose. warranty is irrelevant:  sale of good act means that goods must be fit for purpose.  VX may claim poor fitting etc but they must prove it
