Title: Another a/c question

After a fortnight away from the forum I see there are quite a few a/c questions.
On the V6, what's the ally bit in the rubber hose that sits above all the induction gubbins? It should be covered in ice cold with condenced water while the weather is like it is.
Last Christmas I forked out for a new (generic) compressor to be fitted on my car, as apparently that's where my leak was from.
While in France for the last couple of weeks where the temps was high 20's/low 30's it's obviouse I'm down on gas!  >:(

dont know about the bulbous ally bit, but yes it should be cold and wet....condenser leaking? More common ime.

I shall be discussing my lack of cold air tomorrow with the the so called 'specialist'.
You could be right but I'd have thought I'd had lost my refrigerant quicker than the 5 months or so it's taken so far.
