Title: Really getting me down.
Post by: unlucky mark mv6 on 04 July 2009, 17:57:25
As most of you know my car has been playing up recently. It spluttering through the rev range, and today flashed up 2 more codes which are 0120 and 0220,which i believe relates to the throttle position sensors.Does anyone know how to test these if possible or any other suggestions to the problem, but the other day it was saying misfire on cylinder 3,so stripped it down right to the injecters and couldent see anything,so put back together today and still the same with these 2 new codes. Also like to add, when i try and boot it the eml flashes.HELP!!!!!!!!!. >:(

just read your other thred. if you have a rusted connecter and wells full of oil that will cause the loss of power. had a similar prob with jk's mig, he needed to replace rocker gaskets which has been done I do believe.
I think that my prob comes from the heavey rain with the water on the road splashing up on the coilpack.

Coilpack changed and new lugs fitted mate, also replaced rocker gasket, and still no good.In the beginning when i first took out the knackered coilpack, and saw the state of it,i thought it was quite obvious what the problem was,but a week later im still having grief.Checked for vac leaks, cylinder comp, changed fuel filter, removed pump and checked that.Could it possibly be a bad earth from fuel pump under the car,and would the pump still work without the relay.Only seems to idle rough when warm, but still no power hot or cold.Even thought of the switch over solenoids on plenum and multi-ram system. :y

Do you still have oil in plug wells even after gasket change?
Have you cleaned your icv and breathers?
the pump would not work without the relay in.

This might sound a bit thick mate, but whats the icv,and would blocked breathers really affect the performence like that. :y

blocked breathers are not good for the motor but not sure about performance. there is a thred in the how to section about cleaning them.

DBW = Drive by wire ie you don't have an old fashioned throttle cable, instead it's electrickery between your foot & the throttlle vavle.

No. Drive by wire engines do not have icv. All engine throttle movement is controlled by the throttle body and ecu.

As suggested on other thread, get the bugger on tech2 if possible. Preferably with one of the guys on here. Check the plug under throttle body is connected and clean, no corrosion or frayed wires. Spray with switch cleaner. There is another sensor for pedal position but have no experience with that one.
Your wording suggests we only have half the info re codes and other threads. Whats full story?

dont worry about it, we are all learning here mate.
See here for a list of codes.
http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/

Also another list related to pedal trick here,
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

Suggest start a fresh, do pedal trick and post all the codes for all to see. Unless ive missed something? Your current codes related to both pedal and throttle position sensors are far as i can see. But as said, no experience with this issue.

Sounds like the crank shaft sensor. Common fault.
