Title: *$%*ing seat!
Post by: Andy B on 13 July 2009, 18:48:07
Any sensible suggestions?
I can see the offending 10p stuck right at the back of the seat runner. As you all know the seat's to go forward enough to get the rear seat bolts out ....... but there's 10p stuck & I can't get the b**** out! It's solid behind the seat belt anchor bolt bracket!  :'(

Could have been worse at least it wasn't a pound coin ;)

Sorry mate couldn't resist.

Tried a longish drift and hammer?

Last time I had a coin wedged in the runner I used my b@stard bender (and very strong, thick 18" screwdriver) and the side of a claw hammer. A couple of sharp taps and ping! It nearly had my eye out ;D

One of those 3-prong spring thingmies is what I used to get the 10p out of the seat rails in the old miggie .. has a plunger one end, you push it the 3 spring claws extend out and open, release the plunger they go back in... hopefully griping whatever you are trying to move ...  tok about an hour to get the 10p out .. but got there in the end ...

No idea what the thing is called .. :(

Mine cost 99p in the £1 shop .. :)   you can pay loads more if you want .. :)

:D ;D Orf with their heads!

On a similar note to the OP, how are the seats removed safely (thinking airbags, pretensioners etc) as mine don't travel the full length of the rail yet there are no obstructions as far as I can see.

With you battery having been disconnected for 10 mins first!  :y
Remember you've to disconnect your battery within about 10/15 seconds of turning the ignition of to prevent the alarm's power sounder going off. There's a big multi plug at the side of the seat - under the trim at the out board side of the seat with all the connections on it.
Disconnect the battery though after you've removed the front bolts & then moved the seat forward to get to the rears, or it'll take you a long time doing it by hand via the handle on the motor.  ;)  ;)
NB They're bloody heavy!

And don't re-connect the battery with the plugs disconnected !!!!  If you do you'll get an "air bag" light that needs a tech2 session to remove ..

Seats at the highest setting, and as Andy says ... move the seats to undo the bolts before disconnecting the battery. If the seat doesn't move the full range fore/aft  it can be difficult to get to the bolts... which on my old miggy were in bloody tight !!!
