hi, i'm new to autos and omega's (having only driven modified cavaliers and vectras). i have now seen a couple of times that there is a gearbox remap, what does this do, how does it effect the car, what does it involve to get it done and what is the cost? cheers

its not so much of a remap, as a new software version.
It smooths out changes, makes the box feel more powerful.
very good improvement, to my knowledge noone has regretted having it done.
It needs Tech2, with a TIS subscription to perform it....
TheBoy, Mark DTM, Kevin Wood, and Hotel21 on this forum can all do it.
as can VX dealers, but normally for a much higher price.
independants with the right equipment can do it to, but harder to find.

does this make the car any quicker??? ;)

certainly feels that way, so long since I had it done now.
whether the figures back it up, im not sure.

other thing...what age is your car?
only year 98 onwards can be updated
-
mine is a 98 plate, what is a rough idea of price on this?

to confirm it will go on yours....what is the last LETTER in you Vin number?
http://theboy.omegaowners.com/ for prices, dealers seem to be nearer the £70 mark
