I was browsing through the old posts on here ( as you do ) when i came across a comment from an admin that suggested all post 98 elites came with sat nav.
Im just in the process of buying a facelift 2000 elite 3.0 and im fairly sure it doesnt, it has the "big text" info screen and i cant see anywhere else the nav would be?
Also, theres a Traffic Master button on the dash next to the lights, i have no idea what it does, can someone enligten me please :)
Cheers!

I don't think all early 3.0's have sat-nav but I could be wrong mate.

No, all facelift Elite's don't have sat nav. I'm afraid I'm not sure on early facelifts which one's had it as standard. I know all 3.2 Elite's have it as standard but unsure on the 3.0's. The Traffic Master switch, or Traffic Master Oracle to give it, it's proper name is a system which alerts you to possible traffic delays. Subscription is £30 pa, if you are nearing a delay it'll warn you of it. And if you just press it, it'll tell you the road you're on. Only the numbers for the road though, eg A34, M5 etc etc.

Cheers for the replies.
Im not fussed in the slightest it doesnt have it, was thinking maybe im missing something obvious if it did!
The trafficmaster thing seems a bit odd, how does it know where you are going? And how does it tell you the road you are on?

It doesn't know where you're going, it just tells you about roads you are on that may have traffic ahead or roads near you. Can be a pain when lots of main roads are close together. It receives signals that tells it where you are. Don't really know the technical side of it, it can be useful to help avoid jams. E.g.of what it says is...''you are travlling along the a34, stationary traffic ahead, expect 10 minutes delay'' Or ''traffic flowingly freely'' if no problems ahead. I have it in my Omega but never subscribed to it. This is only from memory of a Vectra my father used to have that had TM.

If you do a lot of motorway TrafficMaster is worth it in my view. Have had it for 8 years. It does have its moments sometimes when hazard has cleared but info not passed through to control system but basically has saved me loads of time over the years.
-
If it tells you theres a delay ahead how do you know where to go to avoid it?
Sorry for all the TM questions, ive used a similar system on my tomtom which is usually a)slow to update and b) rubbish ;)

That is exactly where the SatNav comes in - you switch SatNav to say Avoid Motorway (if there is a TM report and you are on motorway of course) and keep your eye on Sat Nav map as to where you rejoin motorway - Trafficmaster tells you which junctions are affected.

Ahh ok. I think i'll leave it then and just use the nav system, cheers for the info :)

All post 1998 3.0/3.2 have satnav. 1998/1999 models have the CARiN system with seperate display by radio, Facelift ones have the more integrated Siemens VDO system

Hmm, where would it be found then? I have the later MID display and i cant see anywhere else that a sat nav system would display.
Cheers!

I have a 2000 3lt facelift 1st reg in 01 2000. and don't have sat nav. It has traffic master that shouts at me now and again though. usefull to keep the time on the display up to date. :D

Yours is not facelift ;)
Seam to remember the sat nav units for facelifts where not ready in time
-
I would imagine not even worth considering retro fiting a second hand unit?
