Hello all,
Just changed the drop links on the wifes Elite.
Took over an hour and lots of swearing just to undo the nuts.
Good thing is the knocking has now disappeared.
All the best
Steve

Steve,
Looks like I have to do the same on mine as I have a knocking (see earlier post by me today). was it easy to do or a bugger? did you do both sides? how much were the parts? so many questions :D lol

I suggest the use of a wire brush & a good dose of penetrating oil, applied well before you start the job. Nothing difficult about it, but it is best to do the pair. I paid about £13 each, but they are available cheaper apparently. Mine are from Partco, Vx ones are expensive, and I can't justify the price.

Hi,
I think the parts were about £17 for two off Fleabay.
The nuts were a complete b****** to undo. The nuts on the ones on the car were 18mm-guess which socket I didn't have-and even if I did I wouldn't have been able to get access to the top. If you have a nut splitter it would be much easier-or give the nuts a good dousing with WD40 a few hours before.
The only other problem I had was that I had to get the wife to put the bottom thread into the anti-roll bar whilst I levered it down.
I'm sure other members have a quicker method.
Regards
Steve

Nay, nay, and thrice nay !!!
WD40 is a water repellant, while it does many things very well it is crap at freeing rusted nuts and lubrication.
Penetrating oil like Plusgas is what is needed to free things off, and a proper lubricant like 3-in-1 or Ambersil 40+ to keep them free.
:)

Thats where I went wrong then. :'( :'( :'(

This is where you went wrong:-
"get the wife to put the bottom thread into the anti-roll bar"
My jack does the job better, and it does what it is told!!! :y

I had a bit of a tough time with two of the four bolts on mine. I ended getting a grinder on the one bolt. took nut and end of bolt clean off :y
The longer they are soaked, definitely the better, the nuts on mine were 18mm and a new 18mm socket helped lots! Also the inside nut (to hold them still) needed a 17mm open spanner. and the new rods (bargain from buypartsby) have 19mm nuts.

Never used the Company, but their prices look very good. I see they charge a flat rate of £7.50, is that per item or per delivery? Brilliant if wishbones are £32 odd a pair plus £7.50. Can someone recommend them?

yup, a good penetrating fluid, and rachet spanners are the key to this job.
If you MUST use WD40 (I tend to as I always run out of the expensive loctite one which is all I can get around here, and costco is dirt cheap for wd40 ::)), you need to keep spraying it daily for a few days before starting work.
