Title: Non Starter
Post by: V6CDBOY on 21 July 2009, 16:14:43
Hi Guys

Just want to pick your brains!

Got in to the car this morning turned the key engines wants to fire up but just dosn't.

Any Ideas what it could be so that when the garage tell me what they think is wrong I've an idea so that I'm not being ripped off.

My first thoughts were starter motor??

Any help greatly appreciated.
 :)

if the engine is turning over its unlikely to be starter motor. how fast does the engine turn have you checked for any codes maybe cranksensor

If all the 'dash' warning lights come on when turn on the ignition and the engine is turning over but it is not firing - 'crank sensor'. Easy check, pull plug lead off, put close to any metal on engine, turn over engine, no spark, second check, undo fuel pipe to engine, turn over engine - no fuel. Both these are controled by the cars 'ECU' when the crank sensor is 'duff' it stops the spark and the fuel. Happened to me last week, new sensor from Vauxhall £52, fairly easy to fit.
Good luck
