Title: sticking calipers
Post by: kris on 24 July 2009, 09:14:14
hi all. have a bit of a brake problem ( see earlier thread) decided to give brakes a bit of a looking at today. stripped front brakes, cleaned all dust and crap off, all nice and clean again. put back together and it would appear that the f/o/s caliper is sticking slightly. f/n/s wheel spins nice and freely.

any help/ideas greatly appreciated
TIA

did the caliper feel stiff or rough on its sliders?

seemed fine on the sliders mate. piston felt very stiff tho. took quite  a bit of effort to push it back in a bit

OK, you need to investigate that. Might be worth overhauling both front calipers

overhaul calipers ???  sounds copmlicated. is there a kit i can buy or is it a case of re-using existing parts. would it be worth doing all 4 at the same time.

cheers kris

you could try getting the pistons out as far as poss without popping them out [put the pads loosly in], then give them a spray with a penetrating spray & at the same time give them a clean with a green scouring pad, when pushing them back in release the bleed nipple, repeat the moving in & out bit a few times & hopefully itll move freely again :y
