Title: headlights
Post by: elitekev on 24 July 2009, 19:38:11
i have hella hid headlights on my mini-facelift omega, and the reflector/lense assembly is loose/floppy(for want of a better word) the ploblem is the black plastic adjustment slider on the adjuster thread(as you stand infront of the car its the ones on the right of each headlight, for adjusting the beam from left to right), the piece is broken in half off the thread the same has happened on both sides, are these availabe seperately? are the fixable with 2 part epoxy? how easy are the headlights to take apart? and what is used to seal the front lense to the unit(just incase i have to dis-assemble the headlight unit)?
cheers

im affraid you cant buy the adjusters, epoxy might stick it o,k but if the threaded bit has crumbled id say its totally knackered, to get the h/light apart warm up the edge with a hair drier gently prising it apart as you go. :y

I spilt my head lights by carefully slicing through  the black mastic/glue with a Stanley knife. I did glue mine with 'Double Bubble' a type epoxy two pack about a year ago ........ so far so good! I filled all around the thread though to use as much glue as I could get in & around it - I sprayed silcon on the thread first though so I didn't glue to it.

There was enough mastic left on mine each side of the 'cut' to just stick them back together.
