Yup....I think I can make 14th October alright. I'd already been on the Meets section and expressed an interest in doing this weeks ago and voted for that date in the poll. Overnight for a few beers sounds quality. The prices for the Premier Travel Inn also very reasonable or don't mind camping. Will be good to meet up with you all.....lets do it [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

i am really starting to look forward to this now sounds like this should be fun.

at some point  nearer we should work out who is taking what tent/caravan wise  so we can see who is sharing  how many tents are needed  etc etc and what provisions to take ie bacon/asprins  ;D.

how many will be taking there cars down the track?

this whole meet would make a great dvd for the forum to have,  now would be a good time to have some club  window stickers made up (just an idea so we can see who's who)
Title: Re: Santa Pod
Post by: bob.dent on 08 September 2006, 18:27:25
Just a thought - those of us that drive estates could quite easily fold down the back seats, chuck in sleeping bag and pillow and.....hey presto! a nice comfy double bed :) Certainly wouldn't be the first time I've had to do that, the only problem is lack of curtains :-/

OK, time to get serious. I can bring at least 2 tents - a 2 man tent and a 4 man tent, so if someone needs to borrow one it's no problem. I can probably also manage a few things like cool boxes for beer (essential!!), gaz stove, kettle and a few pots and pans. Ex-Mrs bob.dent is into camping in a big way so I can also get some bits and pieces from her.

On holiday we (meaning ME) have to empty the toilet daily, however the children now do the water cans which saves me one job we use around  40-45l a day but we use the shower.

It can be a bit cramped in ours, but we need 240v for the TV and the PVR

Just thinking - I will see if my TV will use 12v as it is LCD and the PVR I'll leave and use the DTVA instead, again I think it uses 12v but then my wife can't record Xfactor and lose the adverts.

It's just that I think if I go the whole tribe will go.

I'll help you out a bit EP ;)

I noticed Martin Imber mentioned taking the tribe and The Boy has also mentioned a wife( if he goes ), is any body else planning this? Or is it just a male, beer, omega thing?

Also i know this has been mentioned in the early days of the forum and was put on hold to see about membership numbers, but what about some stickers, some people like them and some don't, but there was some interest in the idea. Just thought that if there was a few of us going to Santa pod it would be a ideal time to get them into circulation. I really like the one the lads had in the back of the Sene. Any Thoughts?

Might bring my sons (18 and 21) although more likely the eldest only as the other one isn't too interested in cars. Also, ex-Mrs bob.dent pricked her ears up when she heard I was going camping (she loves camping!!) for the weekend.....not too sure about that!! :-/

We are trying to arrange this at the moment......its seems to be easy to get one offs but difficult to get a quantity.

I'll help you out a bit EP ;)

I noticed Martin Imber mentioned taking the tribe and The Boy has also mentioned a wife( if he goes ), is any body else planning this? Or is it just a male, beer, omega thing?

Might bring my sons (18 and 21) although more likely the eldest only as the other one isn't too interested in cars. Also, ex-Mrs bob.dent pricked her ears up when she heard I was going camping (she loves camping!!) for the weekend.....not too sure about that!! :-/

Definitely beers/Omegas!! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Please explain the ex Mrs Bob Dent bit? If Ex why there? ect

I knew someone would ask!! ::)

Got divorced in 1996 - not a particularly nasty one, kept it quite amicable. Anyway, have become good friends again over the years since divorce, and she occassionally comes out with me and our 2 sons. Sometimes get the odd invitation to dinner or a few drinkies. It's a case of being good friends but can't live together - simple as that really :)

Fair enough, my wife and I have the funny situation of both being only children so both can be very insular

Yeah, if I can make it, Mrs TheBoy has said she would like to come along. We have a supposed 5 man tent, but our airbed takes up 3 of those spaces, and no way would you get 2 in the other bit unless you really, really liked each other ;)

We have gas cooker, gas fridge etc, so bacon butties and tea ain't a problem...

Right lads and lasses im going to purchase my ticket this weekend but dont want to if im going to be Billy Nomates so I thought I would get a list going of definitelys, maybes and whos taking what. So just add your name to the list and if we get 10 the 11th ticket is free. £15 in advance £20 on the day if camping and that includes entry to the strip or £10 for non camping and children under 13 go free.

Name       Going             Taking      Date

Elite Pete       Definitely   Caravan+awning    14/15th     spare 3 man tent if needed

Bo Bo         Definitely        Beer                    14/15th

Timbuk        Definitely        Bo Bo             14/15 Oct

                                       3 Bed Tent

                                      Cooker etc etc

is the £15 entrance per person or per car?
Title: Re: Santa Pod
Post by: Elite Pete on 15 September 2006, 12:09:46
Per person I think. Probably the best thing to do would be say for me to pay the £15 and then put the tent up in the awning and then for someone to pay the £10 for just the strip and to stay in the tent. The only problem I can see with that though is what to do with the cars

im no teenager :' ( i just love camping outdoors etc

my family (wife and two kids are still unsure what to do) it all depends on the weather if they come or not. and how many would like to share our tent.  in  truth my my wife would find this sort of thing very dull and i cannot see her coming

I haven't been to a "meet" before so I don't know exactly what will be going on (apart from plenty of beer drinking). Maybe some of the other guys that are coming could advise if it would be suitable for small kids.
