How about registering with Travel lodge and getting a "supersaver" rate room £10-£15
This has been done on the other side!!
-
maybe a good idea with our rather inclement weather. but maybe would need a non drinking party of drivers?

Why!!
Drink on the evening before, after arrival, or drink after driving.

I will need to know how many rooms are required but I will give them a call to see if a discount is possible

Wellingborough Rushden Travel lodge supersaver, family room sleeps 3 adults, 13th or 15th Oct
£15
-
Yup....I think I can make 14th October alright. I'd already been on the Meets section and expressed an interest in doing this weeks ago and voted for that date in the poll. Overnight for a few beers sounds quality. The prices for the Premier Travel Inn also very reasonable or don't mind camping. Will be good to meet up with you all.....lets do it [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
-
I've got nothing on that w/e at the mo, so I'm up for it [smiley=beer.gif]
-
Ive just come back from working in County Durham for a few days and I thought I might have seen Finlays name here by now, after all it was his suggestion [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
-
Ive just phoned Santa Pod and for those interested they do have an on-site campsite for tents or caravans which is £15 in advance or £20 on the day
-
The October one would be good, could do Mervs heads on the Saturday and pop over to camp/travel lodge on the Saturday evening and then the pod on Sunday

Tent option might be easier in the long run, I've got one, depends on how many peeps own tents
-
as i am regular camper i have very nice 8 man tent with all the equipment stoves, air beds, camp beds, etc etc would need plenty of bacon mind for the morning fry up :P ;)
willing campers could all chip in for the camping fees?
-
I have the caravan, awning and a three man tent if anyone wants to use it.

that a very good start.
best get my cambelt done then before a blast down the strip would be just my luck for it to snap just of the line ;)

Sounds brilliant, since i don't have a tent, but I have a sleeping bag.
However, if someone can provide the tent. I can provide the beer! :)

Well, as i'm sure you know every time the meega goes down the M6 it does tend to end up there ;) Wait a minute, if you don't take yours that means i'm back to having the worst one there again [smiley=cry.gif]
Oh yeah, so i am ::)

Just a thought, but if I went the rest of the way with you; I'd chip in with your fuel. Or if you prefer we could bung the stuff in mine & go in that & as you'd have come this far already; there's no need for you to chip in 'cos I'm going anyway. :)
-
Anyone know what the facilities are, as Mrs TheBoy may come along as well...
I have a tent, and usual stuff like cookers, gas fridge etc....

OK, we'll sort it a bit nearer the time :)
-
Liam has decided to join us so we are up to 11 now [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
-
What is the proposed date for this? If I'm not working then I'd love to come, I can help with tents and beer, and can give lifts within reason. is that OK?
-
14/15th October, I think. I can make it that day, but I've got work that night.
-
Unless our Rota at work changes, at the moment it looks like I could be free. Is it OK to tag along?
-
James, you're automatically eligeable as you own a Meega! ::)
-
I will be there on the Sunday, and I will endeavour to drag Mr McB along too! :)

Sorry, I'll go back to sleep. ;)
-
Although I would like to come and meet you all I doubt I will have my car sorted by then, but hey have a good time and make sure someone get plenty of pic's be good to put faces to names. :)
-
looks like we should get a good turn out at this rate, does anyone know if we can get a group entrance or camping discount?
All meet up just outside, and pile in on mass!! :D
-

No no no no no no no no no ;)
-

No doubt you'll be fairly easy to recognise by the hood and red flashing eyes!! ;D ;D
-
I can pretty much see pod (and can certainly hear it!) from my office window and I work with someone who helps out there occasionally - I'll try to get some inside info on camping, group bookings etc.
-
i am really starting to look forward to this now sounds like this should be fun.
at some point nearer we should work out who is taking what tent/caravan wise so we can see who is sharing how many tents are needed etc etc and what provisions to take ie bacon/asprins ;D.
how many will be taking there cars down the track?
this whole meet would make a great dvd for the forum to have, now would be a good time to have some club window stickers made up (just an idea so we can see who's who)
-
Just a thought - those of us that drive estates could quite easily fold down the back seats, chuck in sleeping bag and pillow and.....hey presto! a nice comfy double bed :) Certainly wouldn't be the first time I've had to do that, the only problem is lack of curtains :-/
OK, time to get serious. I can bring at least 2 tents - a 2 man tent and a 4 man tent, so if someone needs to borrow one it's no problem. I can probably also manage a few things like cool boxes for beer (essential!!), gaz stove, kettle and a few pots and pans. Ex-Mrs bob.dent is into camping in a big way so I can also get some bits and pieces from her.
-
would be good to see who is who and put faces to names.
Having a 2.2 i won't be putting mine upthe track! ::)
Seams like everyone has camping bits which is good!
-

What about the 3.0 V6 Estate?? ;)
Not so sure I'll be putting mine up the track - something's bound too break :-?
-
I don't know if I'm going yet
I would like to - anyone got a generator for us vanners?
-

The exhaust manifold is shot, and is 2nd gear.... wound like a tractor going upthe track...
I hope to have sold the estate by then
-
i am very tempted to have a go up the track would haveto get my cambelt done first and to get the multirams working.
i might be able to get the use of a jenny for the use of the vanners i will let you all know with the in week.
as for camping stuff i have plenty pot pans stove kettle plates cups etc camp beds inflateable mattress chairs laterns etc etc
if there is anyone on the way from leics to santa pod i would not mind giving a lift
-
I could imagin 2 or 3 of us with vans with all the othes using our loos our showers our TVs our fridges - we'd have no room - I'll suggest it in a weeks time and see what comes back
-
I am taking my van and your more than welcome to watch the TV, pee in the toilet but no dumping and I dont use the shower because it causes damp and I use the van when I work away from home, other than that its yours to use as you like [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
-
Hi,
i like the sound of this but can someone tell me whereabouts Santa Pod is ? I want to work out the distance from Durham to see if it is feasible.
Thanks Darryl

Its near Poddington which is very close to Northampton on the M1.
According to Google Maps: Durham to Northampton is - 205 miles! :o

On holiday we (meaning ME) have to empty the toilet daily, however the children now do the water cans which saves me one job we use around 40-45l a day but we use the shower.
It can be a bit cramped in ours, but we need 240v for the TV and the PVR
-
Just thinking - I will see if my TV will use 12v as it is LCD and the PVR I'll leave and use the DTVA instead, again I think it uses 12v but then my wife can't record Xfactor and lose the adverts.
It's just that I think if I go the whole tribe will go.

When I bought the van the toilet was full to overflowing. Its bad enough when its your own but when its someone elses :'( thats why it dont drop the kids off at the pool in the van

Take the tribe. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
-
Just trying to keep this front page news after all the more the merrier
-
I'll help you out a bit EP ;)
I noticed Martin Imber mentioned taking the tribe and The Boy has also mentioned a wife( if he goes ), is any body else planning this? Or is it just a male, beer, omega thing?
Also i know this has been mentioned in the early days of the forum and was put on hold to see about membership numbers, but what about some stickers, some people like them and some don't, but there was some interest in the idea. Just thought that if there was a few of us going to Santa pod it would be a ideal time to get them into circulation. I really like the one the lads had in the back of the Sene. Any Thoughts?

Might bring my sons (18 and 21) although more likely the eldest only as the other one isn't too interested in cars. Also, ex-Mrs bob.dent pricked her ears up when she heard I was going camping (she loves camping!!) for the weekend.....not too sure about that!! :-/
Definitely beers/Omegas!! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

We are trying to arrange this at the moment......its seems to be easy to get one offs but difficult to get a quantity.

I knew someone would ask!! ::)
Got divorced in 1996 - not a particularly nasty one, kept it quite amicable. Anyway, have become good friends again over the years since divorce, and she occassionally comes out with me and our 2 sons. Sometimes get the odd invitation to dinner or a few drinkies. It's a case of being good friends but can't live together - simple as that really :)

Fair enough, my wife and I have the funny situation of both being only children so both can be very insular
-
Yeah, if I can make it, Mrs TheBoy has said she would like to come along. We have a supposed 5 man tent, but our airbed takes up 3 of those spaces, and no way would you get 2 in the other bit unless you really, really liked each other ;)
We have gas cooker, gas fridge etc, so bacon butties and tea ain't a problem...

Right lads and lasses im going to purchase my ticket this weekend but dont want to if im going to be Billy Nomates so I thought I would get a list going of definitelys, maybes and whos taking what. So just add your name to the list and if we get 10 the 11th ticket is free. £15 in advance £20 on the day if camping and that includes entry to the strip or £10 for non camping and children under 13 go free.
Name Going Taking Date
Elite Pete Definitely Caravan+awning 14/15th spare 3 man tent if needed
Bo Bo Definitely Beer 14/15th
Timbuk Definitely Bo Bo 14/15 Oct
3 Bed Tent
Cooker etc etc
-
is the £15 entrance per person or per car?
-
Per person I think. Probably the best thing to do would be say for me to pay the £15 and then put the tent up in the awning and then for someone to pay the £10 for just the strip and to stay in the tent. The only problem I can see with that though is what to do with the cars
-
just asking cause my dad might come too with his Megga... and if he comes, my mum will come with the dog as well!! ;D
-
Name Going Taking Date
Bo Bo Definitely Beer 14/15th
May have to leave early-ish Sunday

WHat is the main day - it is less than two hours from me
-
Name Going Taking Date

WHat is the main day - it is less than two hours from me
Oct 14/15th as follows :-
14th October (Saturday) - Saturday Night Special Run What Ya Brung
( RWYB ) - Public Track day
RWYB with racing until 9pm. Jet Cars plus evening entertainment and camping Saturday night
15th October (Sunday) - ( RWYB ) Public Track Day
-
I think we will be up for Sunday - whole weekend would be nice but a bit power less for a van trip, wives and Saturday night TV
-
if you are stuck for a jenny i know i can get hold of at least one of my works for the weekend if thats of any help
-
I am just unsure if to do afternoon sat and sun morning or just SUnday
-
i think staying the night would make much more of a club type thing ( you know what i mean) and much more fun especialy with the live music etc. even more of a reason to stay if there is a long jorney involved
-
I am just unsure if to do afternoon sat and sun morning or just SUnday
Do sat and sun, you know you want to
-
Is it aimed at teenagers or families?
-
I'm going, so definately the former!
-
im no teenager :' ( i just love camping outdoors etc
my family (wife and two kids are still unsure what to do) it all depends on the weather if they come or not. and how many would like to share our tent. in truth my my wife would find this sort of thing very dull and i cannot see her coming
-
Im going for the weekend because of the distance and its good to have a break from her indoors. I know she would not be thrilled by the thought spending the weekend looking at and talking at cars so she is staying at home or thats what she tells me ::)
-
So, I take it everyone will be in the camping area, what time can I gain access on the Sunday?

Maybe i could bring my old girl along (Omega, I mean): mind you, she's not too quick in a straight line.

Nice one Pete. Can't order mine yet as I'm not sure if either of my sons are coming with me yet. As soon as I know maybe I'll order them in advance. As a matter of interest, did you get them online or by phone?

Still hoping to make it - it would be great to meet some of you guys (and gals if any can make it). Mrs TheBoy expressed an interest in coming as well, though probably to take the p**s out of us >:( ;D

How about small children?
Don't see why not, so long as they don't get bored and start jumping on Omega bonnets!! :-?
I haven't been to a "meet" before so I don't know exactly what will be going on (apart from plenty of beer drinking). Maybe some of the other guys that are coming could advise if it would be suitable for small kids.

I think there will be plenty for the kids to do after all the will be plenty of Omegas to wash and wax ;D no only kiddin. There is racing on the Saturday and Sunday but if you take the van and a few DVDs the kids should be OK

I'd be game, but it's a pretty definite no from the girlfriend after she had to live through my cambelt fiasco and being the weekend of our anniversary. It's not far from me, so I may be able to sneak out for a couple hours one day.
