Yes today was the day the mig was towed behind the lovely orange vans of the RAC, started last night all of a sudden it shuddered the engine man light started to flash and you would have thought she was a three cylinder daewoo Matiz, anyway the RAC bloke plugged his lappy in and it has thrown up codes P0300 - Randon Multiple Misfire cylinder detected and also P0303 cylinder 3 misfire.. no other codes were present, he was surprised, he said they normally have loads, i nearly thumped his lights out, my response was have you seen the logo on the back window, (OOF sign), we are the elite i said, oof's look after there cars. He just laughed.....
The RAC blokey suggested that coil pack 1,3,5 looks like it has given up the ghost, before i part with 65 quids due that sound about right ??
Any help appreciated

sounds like the coil pack. could be cam cover seal gone. oil in plug wells will damage the pack. :)
-
No it doesn't......the engine would still run with 1 or 2 cylinders down.

Sorry, I forgot to say the car starts but is running extremely lumpy, as i have a 10 mile drive partly down a dual carriage way the RAC bloke thought it safer to be pulled on the bar taking all strain off the engine, which currently sounds like its running on four cylinders

Done any work around the alternator or cambelt cover recently? Check that the wire to the 1-3-5 knock sensor is OK and not trapped anywhere.
Other possible fault a is broken wire in the injector multiplug at the back of the vee. Otherwise it does sound like a coil pack.

Definately, same symptoms as mine a few weeks back. >:(

Sounds like coil pack to me too.
Check HT leads too, as mine had filled with water (the little bit of black trunking), which killed the coil pack.

Thanks for the help, £65 later and 10 mins of my time and hey presto she is running again, like a dream, not a spot of oil in the plug turrets though, one of lifes mysteries i suppose..??..

Check the gap where the 2 scuttle parts join...can leak water on to the dispack killing it prematurely :y
