Welding on a 2000 :o
-
i wasnt expecting the welding bit either - i suspected that if it did fail it would be brakes.
its not worth much as a fully working car so i dont want to spend much fixing it to pass with a big oil leak that i cant find.

You checked the Rocker cover gaskets?
Worth more scrapped to be honest.
-
had them changed with the cambelt about 8 months ago and replaced them again last week. just need to check the half moon section is deffo dry
oil is on the bottom of the gearbox rather than the engine - you also get the smell of oil after a prolonged drive too.
seen a very nice 2.8 vectra estate vxr with leather recaros for 10k

Welding on a 2000 :o
All that salidioter, tis a bugger on coastal area cars. :-/
-
Is it still taxed?
Where is the welding that is required?
Is it losing engine oil or gearbox oil do you know?
Automatic?
xenon headlights with washer jets?

ok
cambelt was done 8 months ago at 150k - car stands at 154k now
rocker cover gaskets have been done again - just need to check there is no oil at the half moon section to prove these are in place.
no idea where the oil is coming from - i am sure it is engine oil as i have needed to put small amounts in.
doesnt loose water
mechanically i have had no issues with the car
tyres are wearing on inner edge so will need the camber setting up to new values but 4 tyres are vertually brand new apart from wear on inner edge, so once they are swapped with the rear wheels they will be fine
tax has run out yesterday
working xenon headlamps with working washer jets
manual box
climate control and a/c
interior great condition with no rips or tears or worn bolsters
-
ok spoke to the garage earlier and it needs new discs on the rear (judder and may solve my vibrating steering wheel too if they are warped)
front inner wings need the welding
do we have any idea what its worth as spares/repair?
-

Front Inner Wings - Welded, do you know this garage well, I have seen and owned a good number of Omegas of all ages, never ever seen inner wings that needed or had been welded. :o
