My 94 2.5 V6 petrol clocked 200,000 miles today. I'm not expecting a prize ::) but I am curious as to how many miles is considered 'high mileage' for the V6.
-
I spotted a 2.2 Diesel on ebay yesterday which had clocked 350k miles. I was very impressed and it sold for over £1500!!
-
Ouch! had it been used as a taxi?
Has anyone seen a petrol V6 with that kind of mileage?
-
Well done Andy, shame you're not entitled to something from Vauxhall. ::)

I saw that too! :o
Well Done Andy, and welcome to OOF!
I would consider 200k highish for a V6, however, it all depends on what its been used for. 200k on a motorway is better for the engine than 75k sat in slow short trips in traffic through town! ;D
-
Any more high mileage examples?
I was hoping to be told that mine was barely run-in ::)
I agree about the motorway miles being less damaging than short journeys. When I got mine at 134,000 miles the breathers were blocked and oil was being forced out of the cam cover gaskets. Since replacing them I have used fully synthetic oil and I think that has helped keep the engine clean inside.

other week I done cambelt on 51 plate 2.6 was 197000 on clock :y
seen few omegas on Ebay over 300k :y
then after few weeks come back on ebay with low milage ish ;)

Is there an easy way of checking the mileage on the previous MOT's ?

You need a number from the MOT or V5 to put into the VOSA site

I 'Think' it was an estate, which are worth a tad more. Sounds like you got a good deal with yours. :y

My 1st mig was a 2.5 tourer and had 287,000 on it. Was spotless and ran great apart from a slight problem getting it into 1st gear when stationary. Didnt burn any oil and gave mid 30's on a run.
Parked it up one day and came home (7 hrs after I turned it off) to find it on fire. Insurance wrote it off.
Got my settlement and bought the elite I have now.

Was limousine service ;D

I'd imagine a v6 not spent its life in trafic and looked after well will go on and on and on. Its ALL about changing the oil at 5k. :y
Some pr1ck that owned mine before decided not to change the oil and it blew at 73k >:( >:(
-
My 2002 3.2MV6 has done 178,000 and still purrs like new! :)
-
My last V6 estate (2.5) was still going strong when I sold it at 274,000 miles and my current 2.6 has just clocked the 250,000 - not bad for a 2001 car. Mind they always run mostly on motorways and are LPG converts!
-
My previous CDX had done 220,000 when oil cooler went and I decided to let it go to Omega Heaven, but therest of the car wss spotless. My current 1998 Elite has just hit 135,000 and would classify it as a youngster..when you look at it its very difficult to accept it is 11 years old,so I will keep it for another 100k...god willing.
-
Mine is still youthful at just under 157k
-
Hi all, im new to this!! i have an ex police 3.2 mv6 thats done 193,000 and is still going strong, my last omega was a pre face lift 2.5 and that had done 185,000 when it died
-
Ah now i was once a taxi driver for around 15 years and drove many a high mileage car.
I think the car with the most was a 1986 1600 diesel Orion which had covered 586,000.
Infact there were two that were one number after each other on the reg plate bought the same day and beleive it or not they both died within 4 days of each other the other had covered 566,000 and Both cars had NEVER had any major work done to the engines everything else yes but the engines were spot on
-
I had a Senator that when I used it in p/x for an Omega was at 248k.
Then when acquiring my current Omega I had a 19 year old 1.6 Toyota Carina II which I kept running for 6 years, and that I traded in at 240k.
So I believe if any engine (except those with known design flaws) is well serviced, maintained using best parts available along with the correct oil, and driven intelligently then it will last as long as you want it to last. The body work I see as so often the reason for premature scrapage :'( :'(
