I have just replaced a faulty lambda sensor but the engine warning light is still on. Does this need to reset with a diagnostic machine or should it go out itself.

It should go out itself, your car is still complaining about a fault! You need a code or a paperclip! ::) ;D ;D ;D

It has gone out itself just took a while to think about it first.

Now the lights off you shouldn't have any problems but the fault code will still be stored in your ecu.
If you want it erasing you will have to get it on a proper code reader.
Not a problem but if your em light comes on in the future for a different reason the lambda sensor fault will show & maybe cause confusion.

i have the same fault light on mine and need to replace the sensor, it says bank 2 but i have no idea what side that is and cant find out any where?!?

I do belive its the pass side mate.

i would agree with ghost rider. bank one is usually the bank with cylinder no.1 on it which is drivers side on the omega so i would guess passenger side :y

Sorry ghost driver (not ghost rider) doh :-[

It's my guess that the EML light will come back on again at some point if you replace the sensor. It's a common problem with the 3.2 - something to do with the pre-cats not being man enough for the job.
IIRC I think the only permanent cure is to move the sensors further down the system but I'm sure one of our resident experts will give you a fuller explanation.
My EML has been on for nearly a year now despite getting it reset with a Tech2 from time to time. ::)
