Title: Traction Control or Auto-box problem?
Post by: Benham77 on 03 August 2009, 13:30:51
I've got an intermittent problem with my 3.0 V6 Omega. When accelerating the traction control light comes on and the autobox goes into 'limp home' mode and the HID shows 'Check Autobox'. I stop the car, put it in P and restart then engine and all is fine. This as happened about 8 times usually when the car is going up a sliproad to join a motorway.
The autobox oil has been changed and is full up as it should be, so I think its something to do with the traction control system - anyone got any ideas on what is causing and how to fix?

Simon.

You could do with getting it connected to a Tech2 or a good quality Scanner software toi have the gearbox codes read.

Agreed. First step is to get any codes read from each subsystem. Gearbox ECU and ABS/TC do share some signals so maybe something odd is going on there.

Where are you located? Close to any of us with a Tech 2?

I'm Sale, just outside Manchester.

Its a strange one, has its happened only occasionally over the past 9 months or so. I've had the autobox ECU software upgraded (to version 11 it was on version 3) by a independent Vauxhall mechanic with the Tech2.

Could be the selector switch as this can cause the symptoms you describe. Do the gear selector lights all light up or flicker?
