Title: Cat Bolts
Post by: megaomega123 on 05 August 2009, 12:46:15
Could someone tell me if the manifold end of the cat has studs or bolts? Also what size head are they?
Just want to make sure I have correct tools before starting.  ;)

Studs in the manifold, special nuts with helicoil thread inserts.

Use a sparkplug socket, one of the hexagonal type, dont use a bi-hex socket. iirc its 18mm AF

try to get some penetrant spray such as plusgas or rust flash into the nuts to avoid shearing the studs.

All sorted. The top nuts came off no trouble. The non GM cat sounds like a bag of pooh. I was advised by james but I needed it done for the weekend. I'll keep an eye out for a 2nd hand nearside cat.  :y
