Title: Removing car steering wheel

Hi all i wanna get a new steering put on the miggy as the one i have at the mo is worn and leaving black crap on my clothes if i touch it.What i wanna know is if i swap over steering wheels will i have to rest the airbag light or is there another way round it

if all electrics are disconected, left for 10 mins before you start, and no power is restored until you are finished, then barring normal 'faults' the system wont know youve touched it, so should be fine  :y

A word of advice re removing the wheel - on good authority from a "friend" who had a mishap some time ago!

The wheel will probably be on the shaft tightly as Haynes says.

If you don't use a wheel puller then remember to have the retaining nut still spun onto the thread by a few turns.

This simple activity WILL prevent you hitting yourself in the face with the wheel when it suddenly frees itself from the shaft!

I've done it with a Morris Minor steering wheel (the old cast bakelite ones) and had a fat lip for a week  :'(

as above but i was told to make sure the ignition had been of for 20 mins before i did it so the system discharges.must be right because the job went okay

Stupid I know but, I never have waited 10 mins or even 5 probably not even 2, never had a issue  :-/
