Title: when should egr valve open/shut on 2.5td
Post by: spikerz on 12 August 2009, 17:12:00
mine is staying open when car has heated up.when i take vacuum pipe off(egr valve) it snaps shut.the car lacks power/acceleration when the valve is open.if i leave the pipe off so the valve cant open the car runs fine.

No i'm not sure. When i got the car, pipes were perished and 2 had holes from rubbing against engine parts.I replaced them one at a time so put them back where the were. They may have been wrongly fitted already, the vacuum wouldn't be working anyway as they were.I,ve been wanting to compare mine with another 2.5td but they seem to be rare up here, even in the scrappies.Could really do with knowing where each pipe should be..even a roughly drawn diagram would do.

egr to solenoid near pas pump, back to main vac tube runing across injectors.

There is another vac from main vac tube to the cabin heating system (sometimes via a vac tank near pollen filter)

seem to be connected properly as you described and there's one under the inlet manifold going to small black box?with electrical connector.(near other solenoid)

just want to check..the 2 vacuum pipes going/coming from the solenoid.does the top 1 facing front of car go to egr valve and 1 facing down go to main vac tube?this is how mine is.
