No, it's in the 'reasonably priced car'.

Think it was the other way round - it was a Daewoo or something, changed to Suzuki last series.

I was talking to someone who happened upon them filming this, and watched Hamilton get the reasonably priced car so totally out of shape that, by the end of the lap, it'd done more "grass miles" than a sit-on mower!

nah last year it was a suzuki liana and this year they changed it to a chevvy laccetti the bbc cant even get it s own programme info right ha ha ha ha ;D ;D plus i used to deliver to that site when it was BAE Dunsfold it was where they used to refit the harriers so in principle i have done a lap of the top gear test track whoo hoo ;D ;D all be it behind the land rover from security that had to escort me ::) ::)

Not a real fan of Hamilton.......need more convincing of his ability. From what I can gather, Mansell (My all-time fave F1 driver) is currently fastest. If Hamilton can beat Mansell I might warm to him a little. :)
We'll see tonight :D :y
-
The track was wet when Hamilton did his timed lap, so there is very little chance of him 'beating' Mansells time. However, if he gets close to it, it will be in effect the fastest lap recorded - thanks to the negative effect of the wet surface.
-
No contest, stig every time
If hamilton beats him i will not eat another mince pie.
Oh god, come stig
;D ;D ;D

Hi, Why is it that everybody thinks that Mansell was a great driver ;D, he wasn't, it was more the car (Williams) than him, as he was not good at McLaren. Lewis on the other hand is a Great Driver :y he will follow in the foot steps of the Greatest Driver of them all "Michael Schumacher" and before anybody says it was Michael's Ferrari, he won his first two titles at Benetton 94 & 95, which was not the best car to have at the time. 8-)

I think his record speaks for its self, you can have the best car in the world but if the driver is no good then you will get nowhere, its a combination of both man and machine.
Mansall was tops, he even concured America
;D ;D ;D

Yes he did win in Indy Car, only once again, BUT then you may remember, that he did not win one single race at all. In Indy Car you get points for any and every thing incuding farting ;D, where as in F1 you will only get points for finishing in the top 8, yes he a good driver to make it in to F1, but not by any means a Great Driver. He only won one F1 Championship 1992, and as I have said before when he went to Mclaren for a better pay cheque, he was no good. Dario Franchitti has done just as well if not better then Mansell in Indy Car, but because he has not done F1, most English poeple do not know how he is.

Simple the best, you are right

He won his first race in Austrailia

Good old ;D Nigel Mansell took 191 races, to win 31 wins and only ONE F1 Title(6.16-1), now Lewis has taken part in only 17 Races to which he has won 4 races (4.25-1) Mansell in 15 yrs in F1 scored 480 F1 points, where as Lewis has a total of 109 from 17 races and only 1 year in F1 :y
-
I don't watch F1 anymore but did when Mansell drove.
I think there were better drivers then personally, Senna, Prost.
I never rated michael schumacher :-?
Nigel Ernest James Mansell:
His career in Formula One spanned 15 seasons, with his final two full seasons of top-level racing being spent in the American CART series. Mansell remains the most successful British Formula One driver of all-time in terms of race wins with 31 victories, and is fourth overall on the Formula One race winners list behind Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, and Ayrton Senna. He was rated in the top 10 Formula One drivers of all time by Murray Walker, who was a Formula One commentator for 50 years

And he's said he'll go back and try again when it's dry. I can't understand how he went so quick round that track in that car while being so bloody relaxed! Class :y
-
That was some lap and he made it look so easy. How many thousands of laps has the Stig done!
Lewis will be remembered in the truly greats hall of fame. Senna, Schumacher M, Stewart J, Villeneuve G, Peterson R, Clark J. Mansell despite being British and a true fighter didn't quite make it for me. Neither did Prost.

Michael Schumacher could drive, no doubt about it but what a self obsessed prick. A few seasons ago he had to be told not to dance about & take the p*** out of the 2nd & 3rd place men's National Anthems, whilst standing still for his own. I respect his talents on the track but he's arrogant & disrespectful which is why, as a person many people got sick of him. Top driver though to be fair.
Hamilton? He's a breath of fresh air but we'll have to see how he gets on, he's still young. ::)
-
GREAT show Hamilton was fantastic SOOOO COOL !
But hearing the Renault F1 car playing GOD SAVE THE QUEEN !
sorry i almost had to stand up tried but couldnt (HIC stikes again) :)

:y
Indeed yes!! Quite a stunning drive from young Lewis and he didn't even look like he was trying. :y :y I'm sure he'd top the leader board by some margin on a dry track.
Just a bit of info to clear up the confusion about the "reasonably priced car" they use on the show, it is the Chrysler for the normal celebs that come on the show but any F1 drivers always have to use the Suzuki.
.........oh yes, just to add my tuppence worth, Mansell was indeed a great driver. He may not have equalled the likes of Schumi in terms of race wins during his career but he was up against a lot better drivers such as Piquet, Prost and Senna. What REAL competition was Schumi ever up against? ::) Not to say that Schumi isn't a great driver.......he is, but of a slightly different era. ;)

It a actualy a Chevrolet Lacetti

It a actualy a Chevrolet Lacetti
That's French for "crap car" ;D
-
If he was driving the Daiwoo that would explain the differences.
-
Hamilton....... One hit wonder.........He will fade away next year
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Hamilton was using the same car that the Stig, and all the F1 drivers in the past, used.
