ok so i have been having some cooling issuses (mainly on hot hot days), today i have flushed the coolant and replaced it with the correct amount. And the temp gauge is still rising to just below 100. there doesn't appear to be any leaks and the is no mayo in the cap.
when running the car the a/c works although when you put the heater on to max its cold... am i right to think this is the thermostat ? ? ? ? ?
Any Ideas or guides appreciated

Hoses from the radiator... Top hose on near side, bottom hose on offside. If they're both getting hot then it will rule out the stat :y :y

popped out to have a feel

year they are both hot !!

Have a look in the guides section for the HBV and you'll see what to check :y :y
-
yeah just been in there and found a guide done by peterg so will check tomorrow and then might look at replacing the HBV depending on what the outcome is.

You need to check whether you're getting a vacuum at the pipe (assuming it's connected ::) ::)) with varying heat settings and then go from there :y :y
-
no problem will check it and see whats going on

Might be a stupid question but you did bleed your cooling system correctly? ie heater on hot and heater fan on full, with the header tank cap off.
You said your not getting any warm air from the heater, sounds very much like an air lock.
-
what would suggest i do do it again, or is there a way i can check for an air lock
-
i didnt leave the cap off thinking about it i ran it with the caps done back up, can i run it with the cap off now to release a suspected air lock
-
Right ran it again with cap off,
Hoses both getting hot
no leaks
no obvious cracks or anything, had full skuttle off and checks valve connected, still not blowing hot air and still shifting up towards over heating, what else could it be any help out there, really cant afford a big garage bill :(
-
The only thing I can think of is try a new Hbv £35 from dealer and easy to replace, and then bleed the system again.

when you bleed the system, is there a pipe to bleed the radiator or is it all just done when you drain the coolant
-
On the bottom of the rad. pas side there is a largish red or blue screw, open it fully, it shouldnt fall out as its not ment to, you can drain your rad like that :y
