Hi, Cani get my wiper arms off, Bu***rd if i can.
Iv'e pulled eased yanked bashed. No movement at all.
I've even soaked them in WD40.
Any one got any ideas? I can't get the scuttle off. Also the blinkin screw on the end just keeps turning and not undoing.
I havn't tried an ax yet, but soon!! If anyone can help pleeese. >:( :'( >:( :-/

lot of gentle wiggling sorted mine the 1st time, pushing and pulling on the wiper arm freed it off.
a better penetrating fluid than wd40 would help. (plus gas etc)
if all else fails, you may have to get a puller.

Whatever else you do - BE CAREFUL on 2 counts
1) Don't take the nuts off totally as you remove the arms, just slacken them until the arms are free. That way you won't injure yourself when they finally come off with a jolt.
2) Be careful not to apply too much force as you can crack the windscreen. I know as I did this only a week ago.

As said really, had the same problem yesterday.
Went and got the plus gas (this stuff deserves the recommendations it gets, I'll never see WD40 in the same light ;D) from shed, let it soak for a min or so and the bit of wiggling and pushing down on the hinge in the arm repeatedly.

Thanks chaps. Ill try the plus gas. Iv'e never heard of it but from what you say it's got to be worth a try :)

Try using a small adjustable spanner on the arm itself next to the taper spindle. CAREFULLY lever it back & forth :y
It normally works for me :y :y :y

I think I got a short 13mm spanner under mine and used it as a lever. Be very careful not to damage the scuttle though.
I'd recommend a puller though, can be got for under £10 and saves a lot of potential damage.

ime you need to push down(towards the screen) alot more than pull up(away from the screen). The spring in the arm means that its action is the same as you pulling, so you need to do the opposite. And if its the first time they've been off then you need to be very firm to the point of banging on the hinge with your hand. Maybe use a rag as a pad to bang on to save any injury. Failing all that, a puller... But i have not been beaten yet.
By "the screw on the end" i guess you mean the torx holding the scuttle down drivers side. Try a pair of needle more pliers(or something similar to get under it) under the rim of the bolt to pull up and then unscrew at the same time, failling that drill head of it. Screw the stud out from the back and fit another bolt.

hi what i do is after undoing nut and oiling, put wipers half way i.e straight up the screen, hinge it up and then rock drivers to passengers, usually gets em off no tools needed as this motion unlocks the taper/spline fixing of them

:o Were they welded on ? First job I used mine for was on my '94 Elite. I'd had the car 4 years and had not removed the arms in that period. They popped off easy as can be.
