Title: HBV
Post by: Jimbob on 21 August 2009, 19:13:12
done a few before, always taken the scuttle off to do em, taken about an hour each time.

always thought "no way" to the few who claimed to have done em without removing it.  surely must have Tunnie's build and hands to do that.

well as if my car doesnt have enough coolant drinking problems (heads need doing due to core plug and poss HG) ...saw a drip or 2 underneath and the hbv had started leaking as well. (plus my aircon has just started only blowing warm air, ALWAYS warmer than outside regardless of setting :-/).

So picked up a new one.

about to take the wipers off to remove scuttle, and thought sod it, this isnt giving much more room, lets have a go.

pulled out the brake vac pipe, and manoevered in, and slid a hand down the back......

no probs, all done in 20 mins!

So, if a fat sausage fingered bloke like me can do it without removing anything else, then anyone can!

aircon still warm though  :(

more than enough flex in the pipes to move it drivers side a bit, then plenty of access.

Does this HBV have a great effect on the cooling JB? I feel that my aircon is not working as it should even after a full service by a pro  :-/

i think, depending how it fails it can do.

would appear not in my case.

im gonna check live data on 2 similar cars, and if i can see anything else, then its into an aircon place.

hbv fine, vac seems fine, motors and flaps all working as thy should, revs alter with aircon on / off.

afaik you can check the hbv....take it out and check its not leaking, you can check the plunger moves bu sucking on the vac connector.

mine had started leaking, but worked ok.

dunno on the dryer though sorry.

Looks like the scuttle panel is going out on Sunday then  :D I'll change the dryer anyway and will let you know if that helps the cooling  :y
