Title: Alarm LED?
Post by: GazzaB on 27 July 2009, 18:14:30
The Alarm keeps going off randomly. I know the door lock solonoid has failed but sure if this will be having an effect?
When I lock the doors, the Alarm LED just flashes rapidly for 10 seconds? then after about once a second. Is this correct?
Should it not be just on solid for the first 10 seconds?

I checked the bonnet/boot and door switches, they are functioning correctly.
Just trying now with the ultrasonic sensors off.
The Alarm will not switch off when the key is pressed. and has been going off whilst driving too.
Could This be caused by the alarm battery failing? or is the alarm unit buggered?

Any help greatly received.

Where is the Alarm Battery on these?

and is it a specific battery type (vauxhall part only) or available generally?

Have a look here. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1240077701 You may be able to source batteries, failing that a replacement unit from VX about £60 :y
Friendly warning. Powersounders have been known to ignite due to failing batteries leaking  :o

Cheers Rob. :y

I'll rip out the powersounder tomorrow, and take it apart and retro fit some new batteries...
Looks easy enough job...

And here is a Reference chart for this battery make. gives the full specs of the battery.

Well, i have replaced the alarm power sounder and the fault still carried on.
The fault had been caused by the door lock solonoid.
The solonoid had failed completely.
i replaced the solonoid and all this week the alarm has been OK. now the alarm LED lights up in the normal manner as discribed in the Manual.
Ive not metered the old solonoid, but i suspect it has a short circuit, causing a current drop which then was sensed by the alarm and causing the alarm to give a system error warning.
I know my neighbours are pleased that its all working OK again LOL.

Hope this information helps anyone else with this problem.
