Title: My Omega - 7,500 miles later
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 04 December 2007, 01:38:36
Looking at the clock, I've now done an easy 7500 miles in my Omega, since I aquired if from STMO a couple of months ago  ::)

Although in great condition when I bought it, It's had a lot of TLC since then. I have done:

1) Sequential LPG Conversion
2) Cambelt kit, water pump, auxilliary belt, auxilliary belt tensioner.
3) Full new GM exhaust system, from the Cats back
4) MAF sensor
5) New clutch kit, and release bearing
6) New spark plugs
7) Lots of oil and filter changes to keep engine tip top
8) New sump pan  ::)
9) Climate control upgrade with Tech2 - Cheers TB
10) Gearbox oil change
11) New tyres - (Nexens are no fun in the winter ;D )
12) Coolant flush, and fresh antifreeze

Jobs to do:

1) Potentially replace HT leads. Whilst fine on petrol, I get the occasional miss on Gas under load. Seems to be getting a lot better though, so I think I'll see how things settle before taking any action.

2) Another meet with my good friend Mr K Wood, to look over the fuelling/mapping aspects of LPG. May also try and get a Tech2 holder involved, so we can get the figures extremely close.

For the summer:

3) Pop an R28 gearbox on
4) Possible 3.0 cam upgrade - undecided yet, will probably do when belt next due.
5) Dashboard Bulb

I can honestly say that, I am enjoying this car now, just as much as I was when I bought her. By far the best car I have ever owned, and driving it puts a smile on my face  :y

Body-wise, there is not a mark on her, absolutely immaculate for a W reg. Whilst I tend to get through cars quickly, I can see me keeping this one for a very long time - especially with that I've invested in keeping it good :)

 :y No problem.

If you're feeling brave :o we could pull out one of the lambda sensors and try the wideband?

It certainly does drive very nicely.

what happened with the suspected cam belt problem  - I missed the conclusion to that?

A bullet dodged.. And judging by the vacuum it was pulling when we did the LPG conversion there's no damage.
