Title: I think my alternator has died
Post by: mark.adams on 22 August 2009, 18:11:24: Flat battery one morning this week, managed to get car started by jumping it, ran it for half an hour to put some charge in the battery, switched it off, then wouldn't start again. Charged battery overnight on battery charger, started fine next morning, later that day, alternator light came on on dash and has stayed on since....

Post by: MutantCav on 22 August 2009, 22:29:23: Just change the bushes and regulator mate...most likely one of these is whats failed...cheap and easy to do :y

Post by: goonv6 on 23 August 2009, 10:19:51: BTW, I'd test the battery regardless. When its on the car and its running, put a voltmeter over the battery terminals. it should read around 14.5v.

It's either brushes or regulator/rectifier open circuit.
