As above the brake lights come on whith the ignition looked at the pedal swith disconected it and they still come on
-
Was it connected correctly before you disconnected it, or loose?
Changed any bulbs lately?
-
Yes Mate it hadnt been touched at all but thought i would have a look "as you do".....the only other thing is i changed it from automatic to manual box about 6 weeks ago but ive only just noticed as its getting dark nights but i cant really see how that could make the brake lights perminently on
-
you could pull the fuse for the brake lights, this will tell you if its a short in the brakelight circuit or if its getting its power from somewhere else. i wouldnt recommend this for driving though, as people dont pay enough attention to the bright red lights anyway. single pole bulb in a double pole socket? this does it on trucks.

On an auto you have to press the brake pedal before you can move the gear shifter out of 'park' & I think the box has to be in park or neutral before you can start it. Did you have to modify this wiring when you swapped the gearboxes?

Yeah sorted all the wiring out corectly even got the cruise to work afterwards .....ill be having a good luck around as soon as it stops raining
