Title: Door strap fix
Post by: Turk on 04 September 2009, 01:02:22
I'm getting tired of the loud clicks made by the door strap on opening and closing, so it's time to get it sorted.
I'm sure I've seen a "How to" on the subject but I can't find it in the Maintainance Guide.  :-/
Can anyone supply the link ?

if its just clicking, change the plastic check strap bush. Job done.

Mine was doing that a while ago, changed the little plastic bush made no difference. Turned out it was where the strap went into the drivers door, creaked for about a week then stopped, guessing if finally broke, only difference it makes is that the door won't stay open by itself.

Just spoke to Main Stealer. All in-stock apart from the plates, but they could be sourced from another stealer 20 miles away.
Parts chappie said best option was to go for the proper kit...£32.00 + VAT.  ;D Yeah right, thanks but no thanks.

Cheers me deers  :y

Did mine last week too bought the new door hinge as mine was fubar  £10 off a member ,Then made the two plates myself to fit in the door  to wedge it stop it pulling through about £1 as had a piece of scrap steel about an 1" plus wide x 1/16" thk  took a bit of filing & messing about but works fine at moment !!
