Title: Vibration.
Post by: footloose on 07 September 2009, 19:26:30
My 3lt v6 seems to have developed a vibration while driving.
It seems to ease off slightly when the engine has warmed up
its very noticeable though.
Seems to have started since changing the timing belt.
Any ideas// :-/ :-/

could be a number of things but first thing to double check, is the cam timing accurate? who did it, was a full locking kit used with cam and cranck locks with gauge?

I have had this before (on another car).

It turned out to be warm air from behind the radiator getting drawn into the intake. Check that the multiram ducting is all back together OK and hasn't popped off.

Agreed that cam timing must be set using the proper kit so if one wasn't used....

Kevin

EDIT: Sorry, re-read and realise it was vibration rather than performance that "eased off". Comment regarding cam timing is even more relevant.

I did use a full locking kit when fitting the new belt. However i will check again. I do have an exhaust leak where the cat joins the rest of the system i don't suppose this could cause vibration could it?
