Just asking out of interest really, following my recent scare!
Please note I'm not touting for business (I cannot take anymore on this year)... But I'm interested in the results of this poll.
Obviously, it only applies to petrol models!
-
i have about 15k until it is due, we reckon that will be late Feb next year :-/
-
The 2.2 is due within a couple of thou (so NOW)
the 3.0 has about a year left.....but I'm twitchy, Aux belt sometimes squeaky, so think the whole lot can be done sooner rather than later.
For a small forum, there have been too many failures, I don't want to be next.
-
You need to add years, as some do moderate mileages.
-
mine is a strange one.....32k to go till renewal time, but it was done nearly 3 years ago. Only done about 8k
uffice to say i`ll do it in about 6 months
-
Only had the mega for 2 weeks listed on this site for about 1 week
Now Bloomin paranoid ! :-?
-
Modified to include Years.
-
Several of us have a 'fleet' can we vote more than once ;D
-
Mine - 3 years - 25K miles
Hers - 2 years 25K miles.
The secret is in the fitting, to much tension on the belt and you get premature failure....
-

You can now.
-
I dont do many miles in a year so i am going on years
I have about 2 years left next april
-
can you delete my vote pls

Your welcome :)

So, so far we can deduce I have the 2 most due cambelts :-[
-
Don't worry Jimbob, i'm overdue.
Should have been done at 88 thousand, according to my book, i'm now on 94,500 miles.
-
To quote Noel Coward (Mr Bridger) from the Italian Job....
'I think we need to arrange.......a cambelt party'
Well OK, he didn't say the last bit.

You did mine about 2000 miles ago so plenty left for me :)
-
Mine was done about 20 months/20k ago by Mr DTM on that long, cold, winter's day. And a bloody good larf it was to!
-
Mine is due in June by date rather than miles.
Are any of these cambelt parties in Spain?!
I haven't seen any mention of gearbox thrust washer changing parties......

Now there's a thought :)
-
If you want to host and pay all the ferry fares, I'm up for it ;D
-
There's not really enough space at our house but for a while I've had it in mind to see if there's interest in a gathering at my parents' house near Reading. For their own protection I'm going to arrange this when they are on holiday, and I believe they are going away early in the new year. I need to make some discrete enquiries to find out exactly when. Could be for cam belts, LPG, beer, all 3, bacon butties. Whatever there's demand for. There's dry garage space for 3 cars plus umpteen outside.

The Elite - was done at 152k, now at 162k, so 30k to go (will do it in 20k tho)
2ltr GLS, needs doing now as no history of previous change...
-
good to see nobody voted "dont know"!
mine was only done 5k ago

I know you and Emma were discussing the possibility at the lakes.
We always seem to do these in Feb, when its cold, wet, early nights etc. We must be more organised in the future.
I can't host any for a few months - I think I've put out my neighbour enough this year, plus they had their first baby last week.

... And my parents ended up going away the same time as we did.
It's not necessarily a requirement for them to be away, It's just that if they were in, nobody would get anything done for my Mum offering them cups of tea.

On the other hand, it's a time of year when people aren't generally that busy... :-/

Did we have a cambelt party nine months ago ::) :-X ;D
-
I've voted re. my 2.6l (30k to go), but my 2.0l tourer est. is long overdue for everything. It's off the road for the moment, (still healthy), but I propose to get it straight in the New Year. Cambelt party
candidate!
-
Another 60000 or so ::)
-
Another 60000 or so ::)
Hmmm I remember Vaux said 80k for Omega cambelts once, then changed their minds.
-
Just done, 1 month ago
:y :y :y
-
Another 60000 or so ::)
Check it, double check it and tripple check it......Alfa have already halved the interval on the 4 pots from 72K to 36K and 3 years.....due to failures.
On the 4 pots its also the oil pressure basied variator that controls the valve timing that gets noisey and needs doing at the same time.
I would never leave any cambelt on any make of car that long.
-
As thought....
Service schedule says check/replace if necessary at 60,000km (30,000mls) and replace at a maximum of 120,000km or 3yrs.
So do double check it.
-
A quote from another site:
Although Alfa still recommend at 72K miles belt change for V6 (although I stand to be corrected) real life experience in UK would show that a 36K miles change is advisable. Too many belts an/or tensioners/pulleys have let go with expensive damage at less than 60K miles or 5 years.

I will check :y Although, it's of no importance, by the time this car has finished with me, i wont be able to afford a belt for me keks, never mind a cambelt. :'(

-
Mine is due in 39964 miles :y
Just done it

Funnily enough I have plenty of room for 10 to 15 cars with undercover for at least 4. But you'll only say it's too far. ::) ::)
Also, camping with electric hook ups and toilet and shower facilities. And you'll still say it's too far. :-/

Run to the Cambelt party doesn't have quite the same ring to it. ;)

just down the road for some of us ;)

Well there are two options for down here:
1. Use the yard at work for the cars. If raining, which never happens in Cornwall, there is the factory loading area which has enough room for 4 cars. Camping at any local site.
2. Go to the farm in my village. The farmer, who is a personal friend, does camping with electric and full facililties and has a barn which could also be used if the weather is bad.
If there is any interest, and that would mean some of the clever guys coming, I will put something in the meets and gatherings section. :y
EDIT:
THIS (http://www.courtfarmcornwall.co.uk/index.htm) is the farm in my village. :y
-
well i have now checked so thats 1 less dont know.so it was done about 12k ago in feb 07 so yipee it was done at R+T AUTOS any one know if they are any good..?
-
THIS is the farm in my village.
Looks very nice indeed. I'd certainly be up for an OOF camping weekend in surroundings like that.

That is the pressure off for using my gaff as a venue then!! Mind you we will be too busy with olive harvesting and pruning until end of April.(don't laugh - it isn't anything like that bloody Bertoli advert)
Plenty of space for cambelt changes, gearbox ATF changes and a corner for those that find thrust washers in bits in the front pan to cry/fix them.

I usually go down to St Ives twice a year for long weekends. I can assure you my MPG is awful. But thats because I'm normally in a hurry to get there and get tent up before dark ::)
