Title: Steering Lock
Post by: Manxie on 09 September 2009, 13:40:12
Hi, sounds stupid, can't get key to turn in ignition, steering lock stuck on. All the jiggling and attempts at brute force have got me nowhere. Any way of removing/disabling steering lock? It's a '95 2.0 GLS auto

Cheers Al, but tried turning, jiggling, forcing etc. Car is parked on flat with wheel almost straight. Please someone help, can't even tow it as stuck on a carpark!

My wife's Vectra ignition switch stuck like yours once, in desperation I tried tapping it with a toffee hammer and it suddenly turned (must have shocked the tumblers loose).  I shot some 3 in 1 oil  into the key slot and it has been fine since but I must strip it as per the excellent guide on here.  Just be careful not to hit the barrel too hard as I broke that plastic cover over the slot, it's only cosmetic but still....
