Nice easy one for you all :)... went to vauxhall today to get a new gasket for the sump breather pipe ( breather pipe that goes from top of engine on passenger side down to top of sump) just wondering though which way round should it be fitted? as on one side it has a raised area ( it doesnt say on the guide on here)
-
just see what way fits its only air pie in it :y :y
-
well it appears to fit both ways lol riased area facing up and down, but its bound to be a certain one :y

Assuming that the mating faces of block and breather tube are both flat (i.e. no groove that matches the ridge on your gasket), then it can't make any difference.
Do make sure both faces are nice and clean/flat though.

"The sump breather gasket should be fitted with the raised part facing upwards, the sump beather
pipe should be tightened to 25nm."
Didnt see that bit in the guide! lol ::) it pays to read them ALL the way through, but the "25nm" i dont have a wrench that i can set , its just a plain one , how tight is that would u say? as tight as possible?

If your physical strength is limited to that of a 2 year old, then yes...it would be as tight as possible.
25Nm is about 18lb/ft...so basically, just tight enough to hold it and a touch on top.

lol ok so until the bolts stop turning with a extra turn or two ontop :y

Look in the maintenance guides, it expains exactly which way and how much to tighten.
