To my untrained eye, if the engine coolant sensor is sending incorrect info (or no info) to the ecu then the engine will run too rich and that could explain the EGR valve being out of range too.
Basically the ecu thinks the engine is colder than it is and adjusts the petrol/air mix accordingly

Yep that sounds about right, but dont 4get the LPG.
