Title: Rear shocks
Post by: downsmen on 07 October 2009, 14:04:19
my rear shocks have started to knock a bit whilst going over bumps, so i am looking at replacing them.
As i have the adjustable shocks i would like to keep them.
The question i have is are the shocks from a saloon the same as a Estate or are they different.
there is a nice looking set on a car at local scrapyard with some adjustable ones on.

estate are dif in the, saloon one's arn't good with weight, they will fit but you will find when you have a bit of weight in back you will be all over the road.

do check that you don't have a broken spring:  quite a common cause for knocking over pot holes etc.  TBH more likely than shocks

Common issue on Migs is for just the "pigtail" end of the spring to break off. Only knew mine had snapped off after a techie said he couldn't get the rear spot on during a Full Geometric. Don't recall a knocking before hand tho.
Have a look at the donut bushes too.
