Hi,
Whats a rough life expectancy of the V6 aux drive belt?
Mine is the original & has done 97k. Looking at it the inside of the belt where it goes over the pullys its got lots of little cracks over the width of each "V", & its obvious that they close & open as the belt goes over the pullys one way and then the other.
I'm sure that its also the source of a squeal that happens on a cold start for a few seconds.
What sort of life expectancy do the tensioners have?
Finally, does anyone know roughly how much a belt costs?
Thanks ,,,,,,, Rob

I can't find a specific interval for the belt to be changed but it says the condition and tension should be checked every 10K.
I would assume that it should be renewed at the same time as the cambelt so 4yrs / 40K miles.
The are about 30 squid from Vx although I'm sure you can get cheaper from elsewhere.
Not sure about the tensioner though :-? If the spring is in good condition and holding the belt nice and taut one assumes it must be ok. :)

Belts are approx £21 with a trade card.

says every 4years cannot remember miles, and should be a kit every time, as in may look good when you change the belt but the spring can go at any time. :y
