Title: Help needed - Engine Electronics Light :'(
Post by: Xplicit 2.0 on 12 October 2009, 10:45:41
Ok, so im having some real issues with my poor mig now... she just doesn't seem to like me any more.

within the last week, the engine electronics light will come on ever now and then and i will have a sudden loss in power (i was in second gear when it happened and had next to no response when i put my foot down) also, the rev counter went absolutely mental, bouncing up and down all over the place. So i pulled over (ideally i was about 200 yards from a mates house) and shut the engine off... i left it off for about 5 mins whilst i had a chat with my mate. started up again and the light went off and nothing happened for the rest of the day. It then started to do this again last night as i was pulling out of a petrol station.

Has anyone any idea's as to what the problem is? from looking at the owners manual they seem to point in the direction of the catalytic converter.
now i would take a look in the Haynes manual but that's more of a how to book rather than a diagnostics book.

any help greatly received!

Cheers,

Sean

And I expect a crank sensor fault code given the symptoms!

ok so i did the paperclip test... but was a waste of time as a friend of mine has a Solus Pro... so i plugged that into my mig and it showed 4 things... the RPM signal fault, Cam sensor fault, high vlotage on coils 1&4 and high voltage on coils 2&3... my friend also being a mechanic said that changing the cam sensor will pretty much solve this problem, but to be sure i need to pop back and see him when the Engine Electronics light comes on again so we can confirm the codes
yay i think the problem has now been solved

thanks for the help tho guys :D
