Title: steering column play
Post by: feeutfo on 11 October 2009, 23:01:47
doing that one handed "turn the steering wheel with your palm" thing shows it up most, hold the wheel at 11 and 4 oclock ish and rock the wheel and there is a knock/play, also knock that can be felt through the pedals when hitting bumps that seems related.....possibly.

Seen mention of a squib? Or something? Easy job?

Cheers.

Chris. :-)

Check for play in front suspension and steering. Also check top strut bearings if possible.

There is a bush in the column i believe Chris :).

Isn't the squib the thing that activates the Airbag?

Woo. Might be. Working from memory....

My old Omega had it too but never got round to doing anything about it.

iirc theres a bush between the jacket and spindal at the bottom of the jacket, this play normaly goes with the bush changed.Would think ther'e only pennies to buy.
