Hi All, I have been reading up a little on breather systems but how can you check the breather system is working properly on a 2.6v6 cd? no fault codes just a bit of gunk build up in the filler cap. dipstick and water nice and clean. very annoying seeing that stuff in the filler cap and tube. a little concerned as this could cause lower MPG, not to say engine not running as it should. Thanks. :)

Mayo on the filler cap is nothing to worry about, it is caused by doing mainly short runs.
The engine doesn't get warm enough to drive off condensation which gathers in the filler neck and causes the creamy gunk you're seeing.
If you're concerned about the breathers not being clear, buy some carb cleaner and follow the guide in the maintainance section.
That way you'll know they are clear and working properly.

hi captainzok, i guess then this is what they call a common fault on this car? i have alaways done short journeys, but never had a similar problem on my other cars. :-/
